ACOUSTIC AMERICANA

Students playing gutar

Students perform and study traditional folk music from throughout America including Old-Time, Bluegrass, Blues, Cajun and New Mexican music. Students also study the history and cultures behind these styles through readings, videos, recordings, and research projects. Additionally, students learn instrumental technique, fundamental musical skills, theory, notation, and improvisation. Students perform as an ensemble throughout the year. No musical experience is required.

Varsity Stringband - Sat. Aug 28, 10:00am, Santa Fe Traditional Music Festival at Camp Stoney in Santa Fe. Please arrive no later than 8:30am.

Varsity Stringband - Sun. Sept. 12 - Fiesta Parade. Arrive at the DeVargas Mall staging area no later than 11am. Bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
Varsity Stringband - Sat. Oct 9 - Albuquerque Folk Festival. Time TBA.
