ATC Course Catalog

Please note these are proposed classes only. Classes must have approximately 20 students or more enrolled in order to be offered.

Spanish I - Foreign Language - available to grades: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Course introduces students to the basic skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing - and to the basic structures of Spanish taught within the cultural context. Emphasis will be placed on oral and written communication skills. Students are made aware of the importance of Spanish in their world.

Spanish II - Foreign Language - available to grades: 9, 10, 11, 12

Course continues to develop communicative skills. There is wider use of Spanish not only in classroom management, but also in teaching concepts. Emphasis is on sustained communication, both oral and written. An appreciation of the culture of Spanish speaking countries is enhanced.

Spanish III - Foreign Language - available to grades: 9, 10, 11, 12

Course further refines, reinforces, and develops the skills and cultural awareness previously acquired in the first two levels. A greater emphasis is placed on reading and on communicating orally and in writing. The importance of Spanish in career fields continues to be emphasized.

Spanish for Native Speakers I - Foreign Language - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Course supports, reinforces, and expands students’ knowledge of home language. Advanced Language for Native Speakers III - Foreign Language - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

The students begin to manipulate the language through creative and expository writing. Emphasis is placed on cultural issues and the use of German in the classroom.

French I - Foreign Language - available to grades: 9, 10, 11, 12

Study Skills - Special Education - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Courses prepare students for success in high school or for post secondary education. Cross Country - Health and Physical Education - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Volleyball - Health and Physical Education - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Course that provides instruction and development of skills in volleyball. Students may participate in athletics at their zoned school if the sport is not offered at ATC. Students must meet coach requirements including tryouts and have parental approval. Transportation, tryouts and all other parts of participation are the student’s responsibility.

Swimming and Diving - Health and Physical Education - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Course that provides instruction and development of skills in swimming and diving.

Tennis - Health and Physical Education - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Course that provides instruction and development of skills in tennis. Students may participate in athletics at their zoned school if the sport is not offered at ATC. Students must meet coach requirements including tryouts and have parental approval. Transportation, tryouts and all other parts of participation are the student’s responsibility.

Track and Field - Health and Physical Education - available to grades: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
